hi jan
yes 100% correct. you would get 3 or 4 on an a4 piece of paper. it is called a certificate of registry of birth. it does look offical
it is still oblong and not square

Hello again!
An idea - from someone else not me! - is this a short birth certificate? Which you father has always had? You'll know as it will be square rather than A4 size. If so it won't have parents on it.

They wouldn't! If you are referring to the 1911 census above, it just records what the householder entered. The births are Suffolk/Essex but they are living in Lincolnshire.
So - he really has no mother on his birth cert? Who registered the birth then? And where did you get Robert's name I wonder!

hi brummiejan
i have a paper copy. which my mother gave me. the information you gave me must be him. why would the records for suffolk be held in lincolnshire ?

brummiejan Report 24 Feb 2010 14:30

Me again!! Are you talking about the actual certificate or the birth entry on the computer? Parents' names will not be online but will be on the hard copy which you have to purchase (at least the mother will be).
