His death entry gives his age as 70 in 1949 (this can be out by a few years depending on how well the informant knew him). There is this birth as a possible:- |

trying to find the birth certificate of my maternal grandfather EDWIN ELKIN died 1949 aged 70 in Portsmouth, married my grandmother Laura Pollentine 12 May 1921 in Portsmouth. He was a Musical Director. His father was named as EDWIN ELKIN Patternmaker deceased on the marriage certificate. Family folklore has it that his mother was called JESSIE and he had a sister LIZZIE.
