Well, as you probably know 70% of WW1 service records got destroyed by fire. You might check if he got a pension - he might have lost a leg or something. |

Obviously the fact that no fathers name is recorded on the birth certificates of the youngest 3 children is a very strong indication that Ellen and Henry were not living together at the time of their births. Whether that was due to Henry being dead or, as probably more likely, they had simply parted company. |

I was going to suggest that you ring the public library in Dover and ask if they would take a look at the ER for you. I find however that their website specifically states that they will not undertake such a thing (Very uncharitable). I would suggest an alternative. |
