The numbers of the houses are not recorded on FMP.

And there is no H been transcribed in the Vauxall.

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 26 Mar 2010 23:57

There is a Samuel Hawkeswood living in Summer Lane. Do you have George's mother's name?
EDIT Summer Lane is only about 1-2 miles from Vauxall St so could be your informant.

I think that, just as today, people can change accommodation very quickly.
And the Tomlinson/Tomkinson is probably just a writer's slip and it is the correct child.

The numbers for that Street in 1841on the ORIGINAL census pages have not been recorded.

It will be the same whichever site that it is looked at.

So you will need to look at each and every entry for that street by"walking"the census pages one by one ,and it is a long street..

And there was no H in the name of the street in 1841
Vauxall ..is what you will be looking for.

But I do think that GB and Patricia have found you child living with the informants on the cert..

What happened to your other thread, Andrea?

The one which had a LOT of replies, including the full details of this child and the people with whom he was living!!!!!!!

And why persist in asking about the number of the 'address' when you have been told that the NUMBERS are NOT on the Census image?

Is there anybody who could perhaps help look up on the 1841 census who lived at 24 Newhall Street, Birmingham. I cannot find them on Genes but perhaps somebody has access to a programme who can look up addresses.

Many thanks

Only on findmypast can address searches be done for any census other than 1881

Who are you looking for?

Where did you get the address?

I am trying to find a family of Tomkinsons particularly Ebenezer Tomkinson he would have been in his 20's in 1841. I can not find any details on him until 1851 Census at which time he has several children and a "wife" called Caroline (i can't find any evience for this marriage) but I beleive caroline to be too young to be the mother of the younger children she would have only been about 16 so I applied for what I think is the eldest childs birth certifcate George Tomkinson born 13 August 1840. Parents are Ebenezer and Eliza Tomkinson born at 24 Newhall Street, Birmingham.

The informant is Samuel Hawkesford (occupier 24 Newhall Street) Hawkesford is Eliza's maiden name. I am hoping they are living here in 1841 and there is just a transcription error why i can not find.

thank you Brummagan,

My problem with this entry is I am not sure there was only one set of Eliza and Ebenezer's which seems very strange I know because if you loom on the IGI there are two entries for George Tomkinson one with a birth in 1840 which is my certificate I think although there are not parents names on the IGI and also another entry two years later for a birth and then 6 months after that baptism record both with parent Eliza and Ebenezer tomkinson - I can not find a death for the first one and why would you name two sons the same name?

This link in my research is really confusing!!

Flick,

As you are well aware I am having problems finding my line of people I wanted to know who lived at a particular address so I could perhaps take a different angle and look for them instead. My initial thread that I started had the wrong details for the title and as nobody who was online at that time could help with the address I wanted I decided to go down a different root.
