Not sure if my previous message went through. So... Yes I am the same person re:Ziggy. I rejoinded the site to do mpore research. Last time Iwas able to find out so much about my two sides of the family with the assistance of yourself and the rest of this site.

So now I am hoping to find the maiden name of Mary Holmes born 1799 in Tipperary Irlend. The 1841 census show she was living in Marylebone with husband Thomas Holmes and their children, John aged 14. Hannah aged 12, James aged 8, Mary aged 6, Thomas aged 2.

I am just about to send for Thomas's Birth Cert. Hopfully it's the correct one and hopefully I will then have gained more info on my family history.

Thanks for the quick responses I recieved yesterday from all of you.

Regards.

Hi Yes Ziggy, it was me. With the help of yourself and the site I managed to find out so much of both sides of my family.
So thanks again for past help.
Re joined site to do further research.
Hoping to find Mary Holmes maiden name. . I know from the 1851 censors she was born about 1799 in Tipperary Ireland.
I also found more of Mary and Thomas 's family in the 1941 census.
There was Thomas holmes herself Mary holmes, their children: John aged 14, Hannah aged 12, James aged 8, Mary aged 6 and Thomas aged 2 . So if I can managed to get one of the childrens birth cert. I may find Mary's maiden name.

Cheers and thanks for your quick replies yesterday.

I think Ziggy was Jean's board name once - 'zat you, Jean? ;)

How about the birth certificate of a younger child?

This is brother Edward in 1861:

Name: Edward Holmes
Age: 18
Estimated birth year: abt 1843
Relation: Son
Father's Name: Thomas
Mother's Name: Mary
>> Where born: Dublin, Ireland

Thomas and Mary were born in Ireland as well; Thomas Jr was born in Hounslow, Middlesex (all per the 1861 census).

Two Thomas-s born in Brentford reg dist in 1838, but that's it ...

But that looks to be the right person, the baptism BG posted, so yes, it looks like Thomas Sr was in the military.

Trying to find my great Grandfathers birth cert. In the 1861 census he is living with his parent Thomas and Mary Holmes at 17 Brook Street, Salford, Manchester aged 20. it states he was born in Abergaveny Wales. I have his marriage cert. He married on 20 march 1864 aged 22 years. and he still lived in Brook Street at the time. I have not been able to trace his birth records in Wales. Would be grateful if anyone can help me with this. It would then give me his mother maiden name.
