Hopefully you can see my reply, this is my 3rd attempt!! I am also researching this White family.

Leo and Florence also had a son called Kaye Leslie (known as Leslie) and he was thought to have been born in Canada and returned to England to join the army, but after reading your story, we didnt realise that Leo lived and died in UK.
His relatives never knew.

It appears the family moved around a lot due to the army career, so possibly they did stay in Canada but not for long. Maybe that is why Lionel went back years later??

I will look and see what I can find for you.

I just checked Qld bmd's....no luck but marriages only goes to 1935 and deaths only to 1964...wonder if Electrol Rolls would help....I am back at my historical society on Wednesday...can check then if you want?

I have checked the NSW BDM's.

There no deaths for a Lionel or a George with his parents names between 1940 and 1979.

There are 14 marriages for a George any maybe a posibility. And none for a Lional between the years 1940 and 1959.

Checked deaths in Victoria for a Lionel ( George ) WHITE with parents Lionel and Florence/Elsie....but nothing showing. There are no Lionel White deaths from 1921 to 1985 in the state of Victoria

The Electorol roll for Victoria ( 1949 ) for this Lionel White i had found, only appears once....and the year was 1949.
He is not listed before or after..... that i can see, and it was only his occupation ( Seaman ) that caught my eye.
This particular Lionel White ( seaman ) was living alone at number 10 Simpson street Melbourne in 1949

Your Lionel White service records shows he was ( Merchant Navy ) and this was why i listed it.
If he was in the Merchant Navy its quite possible he was on the move all over the country and O/seas.


Will keep looking for you, and if i find anything conclusive i will add it to this thread.

Yes, his parents were Leo Askew White and Florence Elsie Berry (aka Elsie Florence Berry)

We Know Lionel George White was born in Bedford England in 1911

He was in Canada in the 1930s; Australia in the 1940s and then the trail runs cold

Do you know the "Parents" names and mothers maiden name of your Lionel G.WHITE.

He may have settled in any of the 6 states after mid 1940s

Under normal circumstances, Australian deaths are indexed of a deceased person.......with parents names shown...( if known by informant ) when filling out details on a death cert.

I am looking for info on a Lionel George White. He was born in Kempston, Bedfordshire England,Oct 23,1911

Apparently he was in Australia in 1943 but I am trying to ascertain what happened to him after that
