Have rechecked the census and whilst the transcription says Ireland the actual census says Scotland. I have found William's birth. The parents were not married at the time and it is very difficult to make out the mother's name. It is likely that Mary was registered with the mother's maiden name. If I work it out I will get back to you. |

Hi just starting to look back again at My Mary Cogill born around c1888? its driving me insane hours and hours going over the same things. Ive bought credits at scotlands people as she was born there to william and Jane Coggill william was born in england but Jane in scotland and find her being born at all. Anyone got any suggestions? |

There is also the possibility the names were spelt Coghill or Cowgill. Those names come up in searches. There are quite a few possibilities in the Yorkshire area on the census but none of them fit the William, Jane, Mary criteria. |

Not doing any good with Scotland. Tried England and found this marriage. Fits your information. My best advice would be to contact Derek on his Derbyshire thread. I think he does Yorkshire lookups as well. |

Will post all the info I find about Cogill name. It can be removed if you wish. There does not seem to be much available. This is from the Scotlands People site. |

Tracy, Are you able to put your grandmother's information on your thread. If not if you click on my name and send me a message I can look for you. However if you will be searching for a lot of your information in Scotland it might be beneficial for you to buy some credits with the Scotlands People site. |
