I can only tell you what I would do next ( I'm without doubt, no expert, only go with " gut " instinct ).........I would contact...H.M. Greffier, The Royal Court House, St Peter Port, Guernsey GY1 2PB.
Telephone (01481) 725277. Office Hours 9.00 a.m.to 5.00 p.m.

Ask them to do a search for a marriage, between Christine Collas and Ronald Short...if there is one.....I would buy the cert, which should give their age's and fathers name's to follow up...

As Astra say's.....there are no birth's for Ronald Short, in Dorset before the 1920's....maybe he had another name but was known as Ronald....

As far as I'm aware, Ronald Short was born earlier than the 1920s, probably around 1910 but I guess it is a possibility....

I contacted the Ron Short Centre in Guernsey but unfortunately they had no information on him :/

Unfortunately there is no Ronald Short listed as being born in Dorset until the 1920's.

Just while we're on this post, if anybody has any information on Christine's husband, Ronald Short (c1910) from Dorset, that would be really really useful too :) Particularly his parents...

They charge £ 5 for a full certificate or £ 3 for a short certificate. A search fee of £ 5 has recently been introduced.

If you are in Guernsey, this charge can be alleviated as there is public access to the Strong Room between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. for a nominal £1.00 charge and details can be copied from their records.

The Priaulx Library also have the indices on microfilm.

Note: Guernsey Marriages were not subject to Civil Registration until 1919 - so the coverage is incomplete prior to that date. Go to the Parish Registers instead

Thank you very much for the post. As with before, I think that the Christine Collas born c1880 would really be too old to be my great-grandmother, as my grandmother was born in 1938.....

If there was any possibility of there being a later Christine, or perhaps a marriage to Ronald Short, that would be amazing :)

Unfortunately I don't have a marriage certificate :/ I don't really have much information on the family sadly. Sorry about that
