Why would wife's sisters be called Kenyon?

thanks Choccy

rather unhelpful -no children, no other relies at home!!!

you could check for me the 1861 cesus for
KENION ( yes wrongspelling)
the family are
Jonas
mary
sarah a
john
herbert
william
arthur
etc
there is also
ada (daughter) age 1 and clarissa (grand daughter) age 1
perhaps ada is miss transribled and should be ann and perhaps walter considered clarissa was his sister not his neice and he always called her that?

could you have a look at the image. and see if ada is infact ann
or am i just making things up!

thanks for all the help
jeannie

or perhaps ada hated her name and prefered to be called annie!

already posted, think you've missed it !

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 4 May 2010 10:02

I think Choccy has already found them! Ado is Ada, definitely doesn't say Ann. Only other possibility is it being a pet name, but I feel that's a bit of a long shot.

thanks for that
im just too slow for you

thi immage is a bit odd and has extra writing over 2 of the names
i have a very small hard copy of the image infront of me from a year ago and my glasses are long over due for replacement.
can you make out what it says

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 4 May 2010 10:09

For some reason Walter was crossed out, has Arthur written above, then Walter below! Is this what you mean?
Jan

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 4 May 2010 10:11

Maybe they missed Arthur out! Or even forgot Walter's name, with all those children.

jeannie

jeannie Report 4 May 2010 10:16

they were probably just making sure the pecking order of ages is right. im the youngest of 4 and my parents went to great pains to make sure we were all in decending order of age for all situations.

thanks all i will confidently place this walter in the family file.
i am facinated that so many family members , sisters brothers neices and nephews et all lived with other family members from time to time. it may be due to working close to home or in this familys case too big a family may have driven the older ones out.

thank you all again for looking, many brains make quicker sence of this tangle of family information than one.
