Hi people, we have confirmed that Robert William is not the one mentioned above as that particular Robert who married the 'southern' and was a postman lived to a ripe old age! My Robert definately died in 1942. His parent are not Robert and Louise and Bertie is not his brother. Would anyone know if a date of birth would be required on a 1942 death certificate as the certificate we have doesnt have date of birth or place of birth! I will go to my grave trying to resolve this mystery I'm sure and I'm only 46! lol

Is there an actual age given on the Collier/Southern marriage certificate or does it just say 'full age'.

I don't think there's any reason why Bertie can't be the witness at his father's wedding.

There is only one birth registration for a Robert William Collier (all of England and Wales)
between 1891 and 1897 and that is in 1895 in Plymouth

I know its not relavant but how old was Eva and where was she born?

It's not Robert snr due to Bertie being a witness, he is definately the son. Robert jnr is 24 at time of marriage.

Are the witnesses to Eva and Robert's wedding by any chance family members ?

The Collier / Southern marriage appears to have produced at least two children, one in 1921 and one in 1925, both in Plymouth

I have Robert and Emma Jane on the tree but I am now questioning if I have the right Robert William jnr. The query raised by the differing years of birth are driving me crazy. I had Bertie as his brother but as I say, I may have the wrong guy as the wedding to Eva states that he is a bachelor which implies he hadnt been married before and the Robert you are talking about definately married in 1919 because Bertie was one of the witnesses! Its enough to send a girl mad! lol

On the 1901 census of Robert born 1895 Plymouth father is Robert Wm Collier born c 1867 death in SEP Q 1933??

Dad's name on marriage certificate is Robert Collier and he is deceased at time of marriage.

Trying to find info on parents of Robert W Collier, having difficulties as his marriage certificate for wedding to Eva Williams states he is 42 in 1933 making his dob 1891 but his death certificate states he is 47 when he died in 1942 making his dob 1895! He married in Hendon but I have no idea where he was born or anything else about him. Thought I had found him born in Plymouth but that Robert W married a 'Southern' in 1919, logs him as being a postman but wedding to Eva states he is still a bachelor and a builder which I understand he still was at time of his death. Im confused!
