hey peeps , i think we may have found it , just off phine to my dad and although he didnt know if they were born in barnsley he did say he thought they were from mining family so the tom we found could well be that famly , especially as one of the bro's is james and doreen,s dad is a james , thank you all so much you are truly very helpful , i didnt know where to start , thank so much

There is a James Griffiths on that 1911 with Cyril in Barnsley.

But it may of course be totally the wrong family although they are in the right area...

do you have the ref for the doreen birth i looked myself on free bmd and could nt find one

tom was deceased at time of cyrils wedding 1938

There is a birth for a Doreen Griffiths in Barnsley reg district in 1942 and no others round about that time .

And a probable marriage for the parents in 1938 of her.

JanSmith's 1911 in Merthyr is - parents John + Mary - brother Thomas.

However, there is this one as a possibility if I could just find out that brother's name + father's occupation etc ???

No other has a father Thomas or Tom.

There was one other poss in Sheffield as mother was a widow,but on looking at 1901 of the family the husbands name was Albert.

on cyrils marriage cert it says father tom griffiths deceased no occupation shown , witnesses were l.k. young and j.t hewitson , when my dad met his dads brother no names were exchanged , my dad remembered them visiting him when he was in lee home childrens home at scholes huddersfield the mans daughter was doreen he thinks she was approx same age as him born c1942 , age of cyrils brother unknown
