You would be better to order the original marriage cert from GRONI as sometimes ancestryireland.com get there information wrong. I have at least 3 with the wrong data. |

Was wondering if there's any way or website on which I can check if Samuel Meneely had William Meneely as a son? I've been looking for ages now and can't find any reference to a mathew montgomery meneely anywhere, and thought it may be worth running with the theory it may be a miscopy or lie on the part of the couple? Worth a shot perhaps? Don't like mysteries! |

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but adds to the problem rather. William's middle name was John, and on the IGI there is the following entry: |

Thanks Erin, interesting announcement that, certainly worth keeping hold of. I'll copy/paste the details of the MC if I can so you can see what I've got to go on: |

Been doing some research and found the wedding certificate of William Meneely (married 1881, Belfast), he being born in 1862. On the certificate his father is put down as MATHEW MONTGOMERY MENEELY, Farmer, with a subsequent note detailing that he was deceased at the time of the marriage. So he must have been alive until at least 1862. I've tried the IGI as suggested but haven't been able to find anything that could fit, even when taking into account various name changes! Without knowing exact death or birth dates for him it's tricky. Thanks for the help so far Ann, although don't think it's the same people on account of ages. Any further tips would be greatly appreciated as all this complication is giving me a headache! |

Hi, am trying to research some Irish family history and have hit a bit of a wall and was wondering if anyone out there may be able to help point me in the right direction. Am looking for any information regarding a Matthew Montgomery Meneely (name subject to many changes particularly surname: meneely, menelly, meneilly, etc), died prior to `1880s, most likely born 1820s/30s Lisburn Northern Ireland, a farmer, had a son, William Meneely (b. circa 1850s). Isn't much to go on but people on this site have been so helpful in the past I thought it may be worth a try to ask here for advice. Many thanks, |
