His attestation papers give his dob as 23/07/1877, so Jul 1978 is off by exactly 1 year - not too unusual.

William enlisted 13/4/1916 and gives a Winnipeg addy for Sarah.
They both appear on 1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, but I don't have the right sub to get details.

Since the 1916 & 1911 nominal census dates are June 1, and I don't see them, nor Wm alone, here in 1911, I guess they're on the English 1911.

EDIT Found them on 1911 Canada census.
