Got the MC of Michael McCormick and Anne Bourke yesterday. Makes Anne born c. 1830 in Tipperary, Ireland to a Michael Bourke who is listed to be employed as a Gentleman's Servant.
Any suggestions on how to go further with the Bourkes?

Jaime...Try checking 1861/71 for Catherine Wilkinson. (Barton St.1881)..that should bring up Wm snr....its the only family with a Wm.Thomas and Alice although there may be others. However I have no idea how old Alice was when she got married which may help...

Jamie Report 14 Jan 2011 13:18

Edward Francis Weston was correct. Two things I"m working on at me moment is his wife Alice Wilkinson and his parents Michael and Ann.
The Wilkinson"s are a problem as it seems William Wilkinson (Alice Father) Married had children and died between the 1861 and the 1871 census so that looks like a dead end.
As far as Micheal goes he married Anne Bourke in Manchester in 1852 it would seem. I"m waiting for the MC for the fathers name but any help is as always very welcome

Jamie Report 2 Aug 2010 14:25

Yes, Michael McCormick had two sons called Edward. (odd but true) Edward F and Edward Thomas....I/m 99% sure that the F stands for Francis and if so... that's my problem solved.

Jamie Report 2 Aug 2010 14:17

Thanks Linda, yes, i/m pretty sure it is, its just finding a way to confirm it, unfortunately the marriage cert wasn't conclusive.
Francis McCormick married Alice Wilkinson in 1883, Alice had a brother William. The marriage cert is witnessed by a Thomas Wilkinson ( brother perhaps?) As her father, also named William is dead.
I feel that if I could connect Thomas, William and Alice then I/ll know i have the right Francis McCormick....

Hi,
Well it took a whole month before I received the marriage cert. Unfortunately it gave me no more info than already known, the address they were living at is just down as Southport.
I/m pretty sure that his name was Edward Francis McCormick and that solves many puzzling questions but have no way to confirm it 100%
I guess one way would be to trace it through the Wilkinson's....we know that her name was Alice and she had a brother William.
Any suggestions are welcome as usual.

I can't for the life of me find them on the 1871 or 1861

Can/t thank you guys enough for the help. The McCormicks have and still are something of a mystery...which is sad as my Grand mother is one...but unfortunatly remembers very little.
She married moved to Leicester at a young age and contact with Southport and the McCormicks and Wilkinsons seems to have been completely lost.

Thanks ever so much for the help....

I/ve done a search on the net based on info on the Marriage you mention and found this...

Marriage: 18 Jun 1883 St Luke, Southport, Lancashire, England
Francis McCormack - 22 Carter Bachelor of Southport
Alice Wilkinson - 18 Spinster of Southport
Groom's Father: Michael McCormack, Tailor
Bride's Father: William Wilkinson, Trainer (deceased)
Witness: Thurston Southworth; Thomas Wilkinson
Married by: W. H. Marsden
Register: Marriages 1883 - 1904, Page 3, Entry 5
Source: LDS Film 1849661

It certainly seems about right but is it possible the name is spelt wrong...and twice?
