On the subject of steak I think that the most memorable (But not necessarily the best) steak meal that I have ever had was in Morton's Steakhouse in New Orleans.

Memorable because they did not have a conventional printed menu from which to make your choice. What they did instead was to bring a trolley to the side of your table which contained uncooked items from which your chosen meal could be cooked. Your waiter held up each item in turn and proceeded to describe them in rather flowery and obviously well rehearsed terms.

Holding up a piece of lean meat, "This sir is prime USDA beef which we can cook in a myriad of different ways to suit you ". Holding up a live lobster, " This is a New England lobster landed only this morning". Even going as far as to hold up a potato and describing it as, "Idaho's finest". No meal prices were mentioned so in some senses you hoped that you could afford to pay for whatever it was that you chose.

If I remember correctly I had a smoked salmon starter, Fillet steak and finished off with Bananas Foster which was flambéed at the side of the table. I decided to let the lobster live. The cost wasn't that excruciating but the experience was priceless.

Good morning all!

Cheese and onion tarts for me please with loads of bacon and mushrooms!

I will have to take some Chicken Karage for later as those Caribbean Banana Fritters are back and I can't resist them with warm syrup poured over.......... Yuummmm <3

Thank you Sylvia.

Persie - I LOVE Chinese food (without the gravy, of course! :-S) BUT for some strange reason I can't enjoy it from a plate! Whenever I cook a Chinese, I like to have a variety of things but always eat them from a little bowl, one after the other, with chopsticks :-)

They would eat out of their little bowls at the opium dens, Dea... so you would fit in well...

I ate jambalaya in New Orleans... also had some gumbo... but everyone has their own idea about what to put in it... never sure what I was going to end up with.

I dropped in on a friend who is into Cajun cooking here (even his number plate was zydeco) and he had made a Jambalaya and said come and have some... it was lovely but made my eyes water and my nose run.. the paper napkins were well used..

Pers

I dare not tread on those buddy scales, I’m waiting for the new ones to arrive any day now

I was in a posh foodie place in Florida (as posh as you can get in Florida!) I think it was called Ming Court, a Chinese place

Six of us, they all had meat and fish and other dead bits so I asked for noodles with fresh chillies..........

...............sorry mam, we don’t have any fresh chillies! No fresh chillies in a posh Chinese:-S

The only thing posh about it was the price, it was nearly $300 for the meal :-0

nah,,,,, don't like when they advertise the food like that... looks like some of our Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Middle Eastern places that have photos of their plates and you very rarely get what is in the picture.

Clinic very pleased with his weight loss.. so he is allowed to have a few snacks cos he does get very hungry... because he could have a small apple or peach or 5 prunes or 5 strawberries a day, he started eating prunes as a snack all the time and we were zapping through the packets of them... but I pointed out that there is a large sugar content in them... so now he is into carrot crunching... and he dips the carrot in the vegemite... not a trick I have tried... I have eaten peanut butter on celery (USA thing)

:-) :-)

Someone at work gave me a kitchen cleaner yesterday and she said try it on your ceramic hob

OMG...........it is amazing, the hob looks brand new!

So orf to work I went on the stainless steel kettle, toaster and steel fridge freezer. All look brand new and not a streak to be found. It even got the heat stains orf the toaster

Roz says it gets the staining orf the bottom of pans and frying pans, strangely enough I don’t have any stains on mine :-S

It was less than a £1 from JTF

Ha ha ha....approved by The Vegetarian Society....not that Id fancy eating it!

Hello all,

I has been busy today!

Spent all morning researching scooters as little grand-daughter wants a new one for her birthday on Sunday (a 'big girl's one) ;-)

Anyway, I 'hope' I have found one that she will like!

Food shopping this afternoon then collected her from school and delivered her back there at 5pm for 'Rainbows' (Pre-Brownies) !

I think she moves up to Brownies next week as she will then be 7 !!!!! - I can't believe how the years have flown by ! :-D

I is tired now so listening to the radio.

It was nice to see that Fanns has been around today - so sad about her dog though :-(

Hope you all had a good day!
