Sylvia, we don't pay any premium to OHIP here in Ontario (never heard of a "medical services plan") -- purely tax-funded.

We also have no drug/dental except for very low income (seniors get drug federally), and a provincial buy-in plan I've never figured out.

1911 Canadian census. I see no Benjamin Fearn in Ontario, or anywhere. Spelling/transcription could be a problem. That site is crap for that, i.e. it doesn't do fuzzy searches. Not in the 1901 either. Might he have arrived after 1911? If so, no census to see as of now (1916 for western Canada only).

Oh aargh, it was John Fearn (and I tried Fern). Well, none of him either. ;)

Fuzzy search at Ancestry might do better.

Aaaargh, it was *James* Fearn. Well, still no luck. Did he immigrate here after 1911??

Fans its James Fearns death cert that says he's been there 7 years, I sent a copy earlier today for Renes

There are also a couple of shipping records that might be him but the wifes name is not Mary as it is on his death cert?

Back again. My friend was at least sitting in a chair today but looking very frail and she is still confused. I asked the sister of the ward if her condition was permanent but she was unable to say as it seems they don't know what is causing it. When I left, my friend looked straight at me and said "Don't leave me". Imagine how I felt.



Anyway, it was a chinese for tea and then taking my daughter home shortly.


Hope you get our Fearns mystery sorted Renes.....trouble is, it can easily be transcription errors in spelling.....quite a few variations to chose from!

in my case, a lot of R is there, it's his current memory that's going ..... he tried to pour hot coffee into my water glass for example when there was no cup there (because I wasn't having coffee!).

Don't worry Sylvia,

I must say that I was feeling rather faint from hunger mid-morning but then I remembered my 'emergency sandwiches' in my handbag so all was well !!!

Ginns, - I will have you know I have been very busy on Grannie duty all day - It 'is' half-term, you know !!!

I wouldn't care but I have to do it all over again tomorrow - we are doing 'baking cakes' !! - Such fun !!

I shall be SO glad when they are all grown up and not so tiring !!

great stuff ------according to the "Mad Man" all records have been burnt and no trace anywhere ---and some Uni have done extensive research for him - and cannot find info ---- what a bull sh*ter ---

Well although I shall never tell him --- I happen to know 6 or 7 clever people + one Numpty (me) who over the course of a couple of days have found all dobs + baptism records 3 marriages and -- 9 children dates of births + dates of death - emigration records -- marriages in India - death certs -- in Canada -- Army pension records ( pension payment 2s per day ) Army Pension trf to Widow ---discovered my gt grannie --- called her step mother --- Mother -- as hers had died ----do not kow if she ever knew it ---

Oh and 3 more kids " given away " to relatives

Yeah right Mad Man ---- no records left anywhere

Only gutted I sent him 4 certs ---- before I realised he was mad
