I see that GR seems to be convincing some people that it was the overseas people who asked for the time to be changed ..... and ti was done in response to that

or so InspectorGreenPen has posted on a thread called Times

I don't know any overseas person who is admitting to like the change ...... so??????????

No threat detected with Avast....hope it deals with it anyhow

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Feb 2011 20:52

I take omeprazole, which is called Losek over here, every morning

I also take Ranitidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist, after dinner. A low dosage version called Zantac can be bought over the counter.

I didn't pay too much attention to the indigestion that I had, taking Tums etc., for 2 or 3 years.

When I finally did tell the doctor, they gave me a 1 month supply of Ranitidine. That worked, so they sent me to see a specialist because of what was implied

It turned out that the gastric reflux had resulted in an oesophageal ulcer just outside the entrance to the stomach. The specialist prescribed Losek

Three months later, the ulcer was healed ...................... but I have been left with Barrett's Syndrome, in which stomach cell walls have become embedded in the wall of the oesophagus.

This is a pre-cancerous condition .................. and I will have to take the medication for the rest of my life. And have to try to prevent getting GR.

The malignant condition has a death rate of 85%

It has also resulted in the fact that I cannot drink any more than 1 (ONE) sip of alcohol, otherwise I get indigestion and gastric reflux

scary, eh?

You're not paying for your anit virus are you guys?

Free Avast or AVG....Google

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Feb 2011 20:54

no threat detected with AVG

but then I have Ad Blocker permanently on, so I see very few ads ................ I see someone on fb was wondering if the threat was connected with ads.

We have had that happen before.

I used to have Norton, was very happy with it for about 5 years. Then my "Dr Geek" persuaded me that AVG was better, and I didn't have to pay.

It is pretty good.

what I don't like is that I don't see emails that AVG has decided are spam.

Norton used to put those in a separate file, and I could check that they really were spam before deleting.

As we all know, sometimes the security pops a non-spam email into spam because it doesn't recognise the address.

With AVG, I never know whether there have been any like that.

Actually I read up on the Helicopter bacteria thingy as soon as I got back from Quacks,and it can also cause Peptic ulcers as well as lead to stomach Cancer......Nice.;)

~~~~~~to LK way up the page. Glad you had a good time but sorry that you are feeling the effects of a long day. Hopefully you will feel better after a good night's sleep.
I've been getting virus thingeys too. I wondered if it was an advertising ploy by AVG to get us to download the new version.
SylviaInCanada
probably one of the ads, if you allow the ads to run!
JaneyCanuck Report 27 Feb 2011 21:51
No.1 here also switched me from Norton to AVG. Norton is constantly slowing things down and using up stuff, apparently.
My dad had digestion problems all his life, and did have an ulcer in his 30s.
After he had the head surgery and was recovering in hospital -- subdural haematoma from roller coaster thrashing, had hole drilled to drain blood -- his digestive tract became blocked. Emergency surgery, intestinal bypass performed (removed a couple of feet of inflamed intestine, tricky when there hasn't been time to prepare the gut).
Turned out he had Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel disease, so he always had had.
There's a slight inherited effect. Also I'm a virgo and supposedly prone to tummy trouble. In fact, I'm a total non-puker, like when I have flu, and can eat anything and everything, and do!
Just thought I'd offer another medical horror story for you. ;)
