JC: As you have acknowledged Canadian acceptance of the NAFTA agreement has not been without its pitfalls but at least as far as I am aware Canadian people are not subjected to laws imposed upon them by their trading partners. Laws which govern almost every aspect of their daily lives. As far as Free movement across borders is concerned that of course is a double edged sword. Net immigration into the UK far exceeds "all the Brits lounging around in more southern climes 12 months a year "

Since I know that you enjoy reading press articles you may find this one of interest:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1362451/100k-Eastern-European-migrants-free-claim-UK-benefits-EU-ruling.html

Sylvia: Your statement that the British population were dragged unwillingly into an agreement made by politicians is only partially correct.

What the British public did was to vote "Yes" in a referendum (The only one ever held in the UK) on a proposal to join "The Common Market". The politicians at the time said that failure to join this trade organisation would lead to a restriction of our ability to sell British goods to the European countries who were already members of "The Common Market"

As far as I can recall nothing was mentioned at the time about the possibility that one day that trade association would morph into the European Union which would have powers to dictate virtually every aspect of the lives of the British people or indeed any other citizens of the other countries who had chosen to join what was at the time a free trade organisation. Whether omitting to mention that was an oversight or whether it was deliberate I do not know. Had it been mentioned then I think it highly likely that instead of a "Yes" vote the response may well have been a "No".

This is not a political forum so this will be my last word on the subject.

Let talking rubbish recommence once breakfast (Thanks Sylvia) has been consumed.

Sleep well Sylvs and thanks for breakfast. You must be exhausted with all the debating going on on here last night. Doubt thatJaney is tired though - that woman just thrives on debate;)

Glad I was in bed and away from it all - thought I'd come into the wrong thread for a minute.....lol

Now, Jonesey boy, what's all this about rubbish????

I am pleased to say that my washing machine is working a treat and, whilst it looks as though it is going to be a nice day, I am raiding the cupboards for some woollies to wash.......

How's that for starters :) ?

Woolly? Woolly?

Best flannel bloomers you can buy! When on the washing line, they can guide aircraft in from 100 miles away.

'Twas ever so ja...x

The ones that frustrate me are those who, despite all evidence, will not admit that they are the ones 'out of step' with others. Everyone else is wrong......but not me sort of thing.

As I have said before and, will no doubt say again, nowt so queer as folk!

Hope your lappie doesn't fall on the floor when you start snoring......:)
