Hi all

I'm a big zanussi fan. My washing machine lasted 25 years and only broke down after son forgot to empty his pockets before putting his washing on. A coin got stuck under the drum and it was decided I could get a bigger drum model. Fridge freezer is 25 years old and still going strong.

Over the last 5 years, we have had to replace all our appliances.

The fridge / freezer and cooker were bought in 1972; the freezer we got second-hand from a friend ca 1988 (it was about 10 years old then); the washing machine we bought in 1985.

EVERY singe delivery man has told us not to expect our replacements to last as long ..................... the general comment is "they don't make them to last like they used to".

We have decided that we like Maytag ....... we have Maytage fridge / freezer and cooker, and Amana dishwasher (part of the Maytag group)

I do have a son-i-l who always seems to manage to put his foot in his mouth with me.

When they moved into their "new" house in 2009, the appliances were left behind by the previous owner (standard here) ................. Maytag range, fridge and dishwasher. Relatively new (ie, around 3-4 years old).

Last year, s-i-l held forth on how he couldn't wait to get his "highend" appliances, these Maytag ones were really cheap, etc etc

"Errrrrrr, we have Maytag, and we're veyr happy with them!"

He wants a GE range that is currenty costing about 10 times what the Maytag cost.

Haven't a clue what Dea meant either Gins.........?

Hope you feel better soon Fans.

I like Zanussi too and would consider them for my next fridge freezer spend - which I hope isn't yet....arrghh.

Never heard of Maytag Sylvs.

like I've never heard of zanussi!!

the Maytag advertising ................... is how lonely is the Maytag repairman because he never gets a call!

didn't buy the appliances for that reason of cousse ............. each of the appliances had the features that we wanted, and were a good price. Plus delivery was within the week for each of them

TootyFruity Report 6 Mar 2011 20:54

I won't ever pay over the odds for high end goods because they may have been made in the cheap goods factory. My friend used to work in a M+S clothing factory where Monday - Wednesday they sewed St Michaels labels on and on Thursday and Friday a cheaper label.

Recently when my brother was buying a new Astra, he liked the blue colour of the Corsa which wasn't available on the Astra. When he asked if it would be possible to get that colour on his Astra he was told that because the Corsa was made in the Suzuki factory in Poland it wouldn't be possible. The Astra is made in UK
