The christenings on the IGI are taken from the OPRs held at Scotlandspeople. These are mainly Church of Scotland records. From the NAS catalogue you can see that Tullibody also had a Free Church of Scotland so perhaps your ancestors were members of that church and had their children christened there.

Thanks for your efforts - I have actual copies of the above from "Scotlands people" - I appreciate that they weren't registered as I don't think registrations began in Scotland until 1855 - it's the children's baptisms (Tullibody or Alva) that I am looking for.

The children were probably never registered for various reasons..... cost, distance involved or just couldn't be bothered.

Hi Neville,
Perhaps we might be able to help more if you posted the childrens names that were on the census records you found and maybe also the census details too.

Kind Regards
Kath

Hi Neville
how about contacting the Tullibody history site they might be able to help

Neville Report 16 Jul 2010 07:13

Yea I've tried family search & batch numbers for the children - I actually have a copy of the marriage (through Scotlands People) of Robert Mcdonald to Janet Masterton but it's their children's details I'm after - most of whom were born before 1855 when the Scottish records began - there doesn't seem to be any Tullibody parish records available that's why I posted the message - like I said previously "a shot in the dark".
Thanks anyway.

Hi Neville,

have you tried Family Search?

And just to clarify it Robert MacDonald married Janet Masterton........... found their marriage on the site, but didn't check for baptisms as the name is quite popular and very time consuming... so maybe have a trawl through it yourself Neville?

Neville Report 15 Jul 2010 22:16

A shot in the dark here but does anybody have access to the Tullibody Parish records or know of their existence ?
I'm looking for the baptisms of children of Robert & Janet Mcdonald Masterton) who married in Alva in 1842 - their children are listed on the census records as born Tullibody or Alva.
Thanks
