Sorry - missed out Sophia's surname - it was listed as Barry and Barrie on her son's marriage and death certificates. Suspect Barry may be correct and Barrie a Scottishification

I'm trying to find out more about a James Hughes and Sophia who had a son James Reginald Hughes was born c. 1849 in "England" (as recorded on various Scottish census records). James Hughes junior moved to Edinburgh, but my understanding was that the family originally came from south Wales. On both the marriage and death certificates of James Hughes junior his father's profession is recorded as "Captain Royal Navy". I have doubts about the truth of this though. I haven't had any luck tracking down Sophia and James at all...any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew
