Hi everyone. First can I apologise for the slow response. I was not expecting such quick replies. I am more used to days rather than minutes from sites like Freecycle etc.....
And thanks for all the quality information. I am following up the name Cuberus(c)h, shame about Adupah though, I can account for an Archibald!
Anyway, my thanks again, I will return with the results.

Just a thought, 'Cuba' would have been about the right age for military service.

I can't see him on Ancestry records.

Further info from Albert -

' I have just adjusted my eyes and saw the census address. They were still there in 1916 when Great Granma needed a permit to get on and off Sheppey. Furzefield cottages seem to have disappeared. Bertram was sent to his Grand parents as soon as he was born. Gran continued in service around the SE and had 3 more children, all by 'Brocks' but no more by 'Cuba"!'

'Thanks for your information. I wonder if the 1911 census has the name of the farm they were at? They worked Rayham Farm and Barnlands Farm and they are both still there and Barnlands is still owned by the same family'

Albert, who is supposed to be living/working at Rayham Farm and Barnlands Farm ?

Thanks everyone. All the information at the moment I already have, I tried to be brief! I have the marriage cert and they were married Sept 2nd 1908. Fathers name is James William Brock. Unfortunately his occupation was Independant Means. Both their ages are given as 21 which is not strictly true, certainly of Gran. I never thought of Cuberuch or other derivation but on the MC he has signed just Cuba, with that spelling. The witnesses are Jessie and Geo Silsby. Anything else I can add?
Bert
Looking again at Cuberush A Brock it could be my man but if the A was for Archibald it would be a cert. My Mother's father was an Archibald Brock in 1916. If Cuba was CUBER he would have been 18 at his marriage and not 21 as stated but that would not surprise me. Gran seems to have put it about! The other 2 children had a George Brock for a father.

Albert

Albert Report 13 Aug 2010 18:34

Hi all. I'm looking for any references to my Grandfather, Cuba Brock. Born about 1888 he only appears when he marries my Grandmother in 1908. He was a waiter at the Dormans Park Hotel at that time. I can find no mention of him anywhere else. No birth or death record and nothing in the emigration records. He may have had brothers George and/or Archibald. Thanks, Bert
