Find Ancestors

Hello everyone,

I have two distant aunts who are:

Sarah Nixon, born 1833 in Simonburn, Northumberland
Isabella Nixon, born 1840 in Simonburn, Northumberland

Both are the children of James Nixon (1797-1845) and Isabella (1797-1878).

In 1851 Sarah is aged 17 and working as a domestic in Colwell and Swinburn. Isbaella, aged 11, is with her mother in the civili parish of Colwell and Swinburn.

I am interested to see what became of these sisters after 1851; i.e. whether they married or died, had family etc.

However, as death ages are not recorded on free bmd before this point, and I have also looked for marriages but without further information I am hesitant as to what to do next. Can anyone help or suggest alternatives? I've looked on family search but nothing seems to fit either.

Hey thank you! I admitt responces are quick on here, but as this one seemed to be difficult, I didn't expect such a quick responce, but I stand corrected!

Thank you! Kath, I too was worried about the number of entries. Thank you Maureen for your find, and Julie, thank you too! T, thank you also for your further details! I do find this fascinating. Obviously I MUST validate this with the marriage certificates, to see if the father's name and occupation match! If they don't, then I will be back!

I was worried, as my ancestor was a sister of the two women whom I am looking for here, and she married quite a way from her home in Simonburn, Nothumberland. She was married in Stainton, North Yorkshire (now a suberb of Middlesbrough, but then a village when the town was in infancy, actually before it was given it's town charter in 1853). I have no idea what she was doing that far from home, which I imagine was some distance back in 1850 - however, her father's details, her baptism, and census entries all validate this.

I did look for possible entries in 1881 for two sisters, but I was worried about the wrong area, or even if they had died young before marriage etc. Of course, this could still have happened, hence the importance of the marriage certificate.

Regardless, of this, thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

I've had a good read through the information and I think I have digested it! I am very interested to see Sarah's second husband was a policeman! My ancestor 's (Sarah's sister) son later became a Sergent of the Police in Newcastle! I wonder if he was influenced by his uncle!? Quite likely on thought!

From the 1881, can someone please look the families up for me in 1891, 1901 and if possible the 1911? I'm looking for their deaths, but I am also interested to see the families over these years in the census. Unless circumstances changed, there are;
