Hi this is quite a common train of thought from the memebers i have had contact with. We are all here for the common aim of furthering our family knowledge, and as such should be aware that kind offers and suggestions(some of them obviously wrong), are given in good faith. I appriciate what you have said and take on board your feelings too. I do not appologise for listening to other memebrs advice, just in future take it all with a pinch of salt for fear of upsetting others, and rules. When doing research the more information that can be gleened from postings regardless of the number of sites they are posted on is always valuable. I do however apologise for upsetting the apple cart with members such as yourself. Regards Jess

If it is true that this was suggested to you by someone else, please advise that person to read the rules. There are posts from the site management at the top of this board and the TTF board saying this. There is also a link to the "guidelines for message board use" right under the box where you compose a post. The rules expressly prohibit "doubling up". No member should be advising anyone to do otherwise; how utterly rude to other members.

Those of us who help other members here expect people to read the rules and follow them, and and not simply let two different groups of people replying to two simultaneous threads go off on separate searches for the same thing. It takes only a little common sense to see how unfair this is to other members.

re Jessica's reply below

My apple cart is not upset (but hey, I admire your condescension). What you need to apologize for is exploiting and abusing the goodwill of other paying members of this site by breaking the rules. Again, try reading what the site management says. Other members' advice/opinions do not overrule that.

Hi, I asked for infromation about our Fox-Russells and other people have been kind enough to help. It was suggested to me by another Genes member to double up as not all boards or postings get read, I was only trying to do my family research the best way and with some other peoples helpful advice, obviously not everyone works the sme, I'm sorry if I have done anything wrong or to upset people, but I was only taking up a members advice!!!!!!!!!!!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 7 Sep 2010 03:56

That makes no sense. The two threads in question were started less than 15 minutes apart.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1236159

This has nothing to do with your computer. (In any event, you can find all your own posts any time by clicking on "My threads" on the left).

Please read the post at the top of the Trying to Find board.

I spent time reading through and was going to make a couple of suggestions, but I think enough work has been put into it.

(Choccy -- why the enormous list of completely unrelated people?? Edit! ;) )

Hi Thanks for these, have recently moved and only just got the computer back! Again thanks Jess

you already have a posting on this with lots of replies - GR do not allow duplicates on the same family

see what's happened here - people are repeating research for you

you haven't even bothered to revisit the one on Trying to Find

I am trying to find decendants of the Fox-Russll family from Anglesey in Wales. We know that two brothers were killed serving their country and were awarded medals, but that's where the thread ended for us. Can you help? Thanks Jess
