Hi guys

I have been a member of Genesreunited for a number of years and have had no information about my grandmother, Irene Whittaker's sibling bar one - and only because she was on the 1901 census. Irene had several brothers and sisters and it would be wonderful to learn more about them.

Irene's parents were William Whittaker and Annie Carson and no re any of the siblings except for Nellie (1899) - sorry.

Irene dad was William Whittaker from Tabley Superior, near Knutsford in Cheshire, born 1875 and her mum was Annie Carson born 1869/70 somewhere in Cheshire.

How do you know she had several siblings?

It looks as though she only had two sisters and one half-brother (Willie Carson from the 1901 census).

This sounds like a match, but her birth certificate has 7 April 1913

I only have the short form birth certificate, but she has been found by others on another message board, which is how I got her name and from that found the marriage on the cheshire bmd website.

I can't see any other Whittaker/Carson births after 1911 apart from Irene.

On the birth record when it says June 1913 it means the June quarter of 1913 which was when the birth was registered (this covers all births registered in April, May and June).

Hi Jonesy.

I guessed from, from what dad said, that his mum was the youngest, but she became estranged from her family when she left to go Manchester when she was 17 and told not to go back.

Dad also always claimed that his mum was from Mere, which I believe is near Bucklow Hill and Knutsford. I have had a lot more success with her grandparents and earlier, but no apparent matches on the family tree. It makes me wonder if any of her siblings married and had children, but I guess I'll find that out later - if I can trace them using this info you have given me. Thanks very much!!!!!

I am only going off what my father told me. He never met any of them as his mum had become estranged from her family when she left home at the age of 17 to live in Manchester and was told not to go back.
