Find Ancestors

Have now found my step dad's parents. His dad appears to have been Archibald Barrie Currie shown as 23 in the 1901 census and born in Scotland, and his mother Susannah, nee Bristow. His parents were possibly Archibald and Mary Currie born around 1847/9, again in Scotland. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, the reason I put "appears" is that on my step dad's birth certificate his father is shown only as "Archibald Currie" . My step dad - Donald's - birth address is 1, Hilbre St , as MaureeninNY shows. This is the first that I have known of any siblings, which is interesting.
It was the England census I looked at, as I had been led to believe that the family originated from the Birkenhead area. Wrong info from my mother obviously.

Hi Flick, I have taken all the info re Susannah from my step dad's birth certificate, where she is shown as wife of Archibald, maiden name Bristow. Could be why I haven't found any marriage certificate.

Hi Maureen, the mother's maiden name would be the reason that I have Arcibald BARRIE Currie as the son's full name and not spelt Barry as normally.

So you can rule out Arch B Currie as the father now.!

Yours is listed as a mariner on the marriage cert. Father John is an iron merchant.

I guess this is Susannah in 1901. It looks as though her mother has re-married somewhere along the line:

Hi, so you think that my step grandmother Susannah (nee Bristow) is now a domestic in Bermondsey for the Baker family?
Gets more complicated, as my step dad was born in 1 Hilbre Street, Birkenhead on the birth cert.

It would be easier to help you if you told us the year of your stepfather's birth

1911 does not say that.....

It clearly states that she is the DAUGHTER, which is why MAureen suggests that her mother has re-married.

Please...........when people find info.....read it carefully.
