There are no marriages for a Bridget Murphy to a Richardson 1900-1908 so that would support the theory that the information has got mixed up somewhere

What was told to me was that Margarita's mother was Bridget Murphy born 1884 in Cork Ireland. She was married 3 times, the first being Richardson as Margarita is the eldest child.

The marriages are Richardson, Mowbray & Page - I have found a Charlotte Mowbray marrying a Page in 1927 hence my belief that Charlotte is the grandmother not Bridget (can only assume my uncle has got his story wrong).

seems a little old to me that Margarita in the 1911 census doesn't have the name Mowbray but then marrys with it . Maybe as time went on she took his name.
Obviously your uncle knows who his parents were and when they married.

What things don't add up, you did say things didn't tally.

Everything you have found seem plausable to me. Don't know why my uncle thinks there is an Irish connection, will have to take that up with him.

EDIT: I would advise getting the marriage cert of Charlotte & Fred, which should list both fathers and any previous married names and/or maiden name of Charlotte.

The marriage cert of Charlotte & Fred should give her fathers name, which might help track back.

There are no births in Wolverhampton or surrounding areas 1885-1890. I wonder if she was married to a Richardson?
