A different father's name on a marriage cert could mean the he was in fact a step-father. |

Looking for information on Thomas Sykes. He was born in Halifax in 1822. His parents were James Sykes and Mary(nee Cooper). I have been told by a relative, thatThomas married Mary Pollard in 1845. However,I found a record for that marriage on familysearch.org, and Thomas' father is down as Joseph Fallowes, (why would he have a different surname anyway?). Very confusing. I found ,in the 1881 census, a Thomas married to Mary Hannah from Halifax. he is 59 ,she is 57. The dates match up,but dont know if this is the same person. Can anybody help? |
