Hi Mary on my mothers birth certificate that i sent for it had George Francis and they lived in nuber 3 Denmark Street, on the marriage certificate it had Richard George.
My sister tried to find our mothers birth certificate years ago but had no luck.
Well your long shot might be right but how can i find out if it was the case.
I have made contact with second or third cousin on the Leavesley side she might have some records on Walter.
Thanks for help and the time you have put in for me. Alan.

Mary

Mary Report 9 Oct 2010 18:41

Could this be what happened,a long shot i knowbut.

Walter marries Lilian m roberts has Walter A Leavesley and Lilian Leavesley
Lilian M Leavesley dies Liverpool 1918 age 29 = birth1889.

Then Walters sister Mary louisa marrys Richard George Francis and they bring her up as there own,so her mum would infact be her auntie.

I told you it was a long shot, but it would account for a lot of the problems we are finding.

Hi i have the birth certificate also , and that they lived in Denmark street, this was the street next to the one i was born in and my grandmother lived .
also it say George Francis and that he was a labourer, and that was 1915 but nothing adds up.
My mother always told me her father was killed just before she was born. i know her mother had a child in 1911 called Ada and that she died, i have the birth &death certificate for her.
Thanks Alan

I too have been looking for the marriage and daughter and cannot find them.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 2 Oct 2010 17:09

I have looked for a Leavesley/Roberts marriage but I did not spot one.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 2 Oct 2010 17:02

This enquiry bothers me slightly.

According to the original poster the couple had a daughter born on 30/12/1914. I cannot spot a Lilian Francis birth registered Dec Qtr 1914 or Mar Qtr 1915. Neither can I spot any birth of a child with the surname Francis and a mother whose maiden name was Leavesley.

The only one that gets close is this one:

Births Mar 1915 (99%)
Francis Lilian Roberts W. Derby 8b 541

Perhaps Alan would care to explain.
