Frederick Arthur Love's father and/or siblings

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Flynn Report 2 Oct 2010 16:43

My husband's father was Frederick Arthur Love, he was born approximately 1894 and married Rosina Chamberlain (then 21 years old) on 18 March 1916. He then lived in Tottenham. N London. His father's name was Frederick (William be believe Love. He was a mystery man as none of the family seemed to have heard him talk about any siblings or his parents and because he lived in the Tottenham Edmonton area it is assumed that he originated from this area. He died on 27 December 1967 aged 73. Any information would be helpful Sheila

We just need you to confirm Frederick senior's occupation Shiela and we have probably cracked it!!!

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 2 Oct 2010 17:46

Just in case Frederick William Love WAS the portmanteau maker, these are probably the marriage details of his father as the occupation and name both tie in, but you can cross ref with census material later if he was the right Frederick William Love.

Name: James Ambrose Love
Age: Full Age
Spouse Name: Elizabeth Green
Record Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 10 Dec 1848
Parish: St Thomas, Stepney
County: Middlesex
Borough: Tower Hamlets
Father Name: Ambrose James Love

James Ambrose Love, bach of full age, trunk maker, of Stepney, son of Ambrose James Love, book binder, married Elizabeth Green, spinster of full age of Stepney, daur of James Green, shoemaker. The witnnesses were, confusingly, Ambrose James Love and Elizabeth Green (Elizabeth's mother?)

The same family of Frederick William Love portmanteau maker in 1911:

LOVE, Eliza Wife Married F 40 1871 London Mile End .
LOVE, Fredrick Son Single M 16 1895 London Mile End.
LOVE, Maud Daughter F 14 1897 Essex Walthamton
LOVE, Elsie Daughter F 11 1900 Essex Walthamton
LOVE, Florence Daughter F 7 1904 Essex Walthamton

Address:

Edit to say that on the original image Fredrick sr's age is given as 55 or 56, then a 3 has beeen added in front of it. Somehow the transcriber has turned that into 35, which I suppose is better than 355 or 356!!!

There were four children born of the 17yr marriage, alll of whom were still living at the time of census 1911.

Frederick Love had this name on his marriage certificate but his death certificate stated Frederick Arthur Love. I have assumed the latter to be the real one as Ron's brother was called Frederick and Ron's second name is Arthur. At the time of his marriage his father had Stoker in small arms factory as his occupation and his father,
deceased at his marriage was had been a Skin Dyer.

Unfortunately, no knowledge of his grandmother's name but Ron's sisters' names may give a clue these are Florence, Ellen and Daisy. Hope this helps Thanks Sheila

Flynn

Flynn Report 3 Oct 2010 16:05

Anything is possible as Ron knows very little about his father and his brother and sisters are now dead. His father did serve in the Durham Light Infantry during WW1 but I think was injured but he just didn't talk about anything.

Flynn Report 3 Oct 2010 16:16

Ron's eldest sister was named Florence May Love so maybe this name ties in with this family.

The address on Frederick Arthur Love's marriage certificate could be the result of working at the small arms factory in Enfield.

Sorry I'm not being of much help but thank you everyone for all your assistance.

Susan

Frederick Senior's occupation given on Frederick Junior's marriage certificate was Skin Dyer. Frederick Junior worked as a Stoker at the Small Arms Factory I assume either Enfield or in the area of Tottenham/Edmonton.

Flynn Report 7 Jul 2011 13:02

Frederick Love senior's profession was given as skin dyer this is on Frederick Love junior's marriage certificate and Daniel Henry Love was a bootmaker journeyman.
