I am hoping somebody has more information on this family. The Humphreys I am looking for seem to originate from St Peters, Carmarthen (living on the Quay) and one of the sons moved to Ferryside/St Ishmael. Any help would be very much appreciated thankyou :) |

The furthest I have gone back is to a Thomas Humphreys born abt 1787 Not sure where born.. He lived in Carmarthen and was a widower by 1841. One of his sons Thomas Morgan Humphreys born abt 1819-1876 in Carmarthen. He then also named one of his sons Thomas Morgan Humphreys born abt 1843-1878. One of his sons was James Morgan Humphreys 1867, living in Ferryside. |

Thanks, well I have seen some of those census's and they were living in Ferryside. To be honest I was trying to find out about the Thomas Humphreys birth abt 1787. I have him form the 1841 census living in Carmarthen, but he's a widower. I dont know anything of his wife or where he or she are from. One census told me hes from London, others say Carmarthen. I think Carmarthen is more likely to be honest, not sure though. I know they owned a pub called the Jolly Tar- I was wondering if theres a way to find out more about that. Also, as the census stop at 1901 I dont know what happened to James or Emily. I dont know their deaths etc, or much about what happened to their children. |

I am trying to find any information on the death of an ancestor. Her name is Laura Humphreys. She was born 1897, in carmarthenshire, and died 1914 in Ferryside, carms. She was working (in Ferryside) in a large house as a servant / maid. She would have been about 17. The story I've been told is that whist working in the house she had gone to light one of the fires, and had caught on fire herself. She died a couple of days later. I have been trying to find any newspaper articles, etc, on this incident- but have found nothing so far. |

Oh its fantastic to see the info from 1911 :) Thankyou very much. Yes I am going to have to order that death certificate then. The Laura Humphreys I found matches the description of the one you have, so I'm pretty sure its her. This is turning out to be such an expensive- yet rewarding, pass time. If only we could go back in time and meet the people in our family trees! Once again thankyou for your help, I hope you noticed I went back to an existing post- and didnt make a new subject. I'm learning! :) xxx |

With regards to Laura Humphreys, I ordered her death certificate and she did die as a results of burns. Therefore I know the story to be true, and am having trouble finding info on the matter. I am sure it must have been featured in the local newspaper at the time. Does anybody know of any sites you can look up past newspapers, please? Any suggestions welcome thankyou x |
