So confirmed this with the grandad. Definitely the right Phyllis, just have to keep going back now. Thanks for the help

This would seem to show that whoever registered Phyllis's death had incorrect birth year info.........not unusual!

I hope the census info I found and posted is what you were looking for........

Samantha

Samantha Report 23 Nov 2010 10:16

Yes I have often noticed that spellings dont remain constant. Particularly with the census records, I think it was often make it up half the time.

It is interesting that she seems to have a twin here? If this is the right person. I never heard about a twin before.

Samantha

Samantha Report 23 Nov 2010 10:13

Yes I am 100%, I was actually alive in 1995 and remember not being able to go to the funeral because it was in brum. I have also checked with my notes and her middle name was May according to other family members.

Will hopefully rumage through my grandads stuff this xmas and find her birth and death certificate to confirmt the above butI am now certain this is the right person

Flick Report 23 Nov 2010 10:11

This looks possible........the spelling is 'interesting'

This is from a free search on GR.

Rudge Phyilis May 1909 Smethwick Kings Norton

So she was born Smethwick.

Maybe someone will find the full details for you.

Hello, for those of you who are interested I have had some development on the Phyllis situation.

I have found her death, Phyllis May Rudge 1995 in Brum, documented as born 1909.

The birth of a Phyllis May Rudge 1908 Kings Norton, Wolverhampton therefore is the only match

If anyone with access to the 1911 census could look for a Phyllis M Rudge It would be welcomed

The Phyllis at the above address looks to have had the middle name Adela and the only marriage for a Phyllis A is in Birmingham 1937 to a man called Piper.
this family stay at the address for many years ( elec roll)

Have had a quick look but with little success. will come back to this later

best wishes

vanessa
update - Phyllis in this family is definitely still single until 1935 so assume I had found the correct marriage for her to a Mr Piper in 1937.

Samantha

Samantha Report 21 Oct 2010 13:15

I was going to see the parents names of phyllis 1909 and ask my grandad about it all. He couldnt put names to dates but at least I could see whether any names jogged his memory before ordering a certificate.

Julie

Julie Report 21 Oct 2010 13:12

But you still need the M/C to prove that the Phyllis b 1909 is the same one that married John

You need their ages to work backward & that is on their M/C & as Flick has also pointed out it will give you their Dads names too

Samantha

Samantha Report 21 Oct 2010 13:06

Can anyone with access to the 1911 census look up phyllis rudge 1909 kings norton for me?

Would be welcomed

Flick

Flick Report 21 Oct 2010 12:48

Without info (from the marriage cert) about his age...........and father's details, it would be difficult to give accurate info about him.

Samantha

Samantha Report 21 Oct 2010 12:43

Does anyone have any idea regarding John

Julie

Julie Report 21 Oct 2010 12:41

The only free census records that i know of are the 1881, but you can always ask on here for a census look up for the 1911

Samantha

Samantha Report 21 Oct 2010 12:39

Yes I suppose I may have to purchase the certificate. this is the problem with births that are not covered by the free census records.

I do not know what the M stands for. She most probably lived in staffordshire so the Kings Norton sounds most likely

Flick

Flick Report 21 Oct 2010 12:37

The only way to be 100% sure you have the correct line is to purchase the marriage cert
