Stephen the Death was Reg. in "Ware.".....

Was the death registered in liverpool or surrounding area,this is great finding out more and more,my Grandmother would never tell me her surname was Arndt and i never knew why?

Stephen...I have checked various possibilities...but nothing showing..have found this ...is this your Hermann..?

thanks,the information regarding German registration is very interesting,it is still a mystery as to why they did not show up on the 1911 census.i would like to thank once again all the help and information which I have recieved.

Stephen...It was only after August 14th 1914 that all German born were Reg as Enemy Aliens and Oct.1914 that those "Males" of Military age b. germany/Austria were detained in Internment Camps...Therefore it would not have affected their whereabouts 1911.

Stephen...If you check out the Family Search site you will find a number of Arndt' listed mainly London and S.East...however their is also a Bertha Arndt aged 22.b Prussia living in N Meols with a Prussian family as Nurse...may be a relative.

I am sorry but I know nothing of how to search for detainees,it is not a subject I have ever looked into.
They may well have changed their name as the clouds of war were looming,but Bernard did not and possibly not Joseph either if that is his marriage in 1906 in Warwickshire.

thanks for your help,Maria was my great grandmother,its strange they are not on the 1911 census,would they have changed there surname as they had a German name,also how would i find out if Hermon was detained during first world war in isle of man.

cristian names as census takers often got spelling of names wrong

Find my Past have the name of the wife and children wrong ,it is Arndt on image but they have been given the surname of the peolpe above them for some strange reason !

Please can anyone help,my Grand mothers family had the surname ARNDT,Her grandfather was Hermon born 1858,married to Margaret 1860 from germany they had 3 children Berhard my grandmother father 1885,Karoline 1888 and Joseph 1890,lived in Toxteth park Birkenhead.they appear on 1881 ,1891,1901 and then no trace.can anyone explain this.
