I cannot find her on the 1851 census even though she was born about 1846.Her father was John a gamekeeper according to her marriage lines,but he was not married until 1854 in masham to Esther Carter.I am confused

Where is Masham please? Do you have a place of birth for Hannah from later census?

If this is the marriage, then I see Masham is in the district of Bedale in the County of North Yorkshire.

There is a tree on Ancestry that lists Hannah as marrying Robert Ward and being born in Kelfield which would tie in with the 1851 and 1861 census detials found above for Annie and the 1891 census below

I have just heard from Harrogate registry office and the Hannah Mary Eccles vol23 pg637 the one choccy put on.She was born Riccall her mother was Mary,no father mentioned.Where does that leave me? Do i forget John altogether now and try to find out who Mary Eccles 31 was?

I have found Hannah Mary born Riccall 1846 her mother Mary born 1820.Mary's parents were George Eckles and Hannah Buckle married Riccall 1816.George was bp 15.Oct 1792 and his father was JOHN!!

Glad the birth cert confirms the 1851 Annie and her mother are correct, however Mary Eccles you found in appears to be still living with her mother and brother in 1851 as below so there could have been 2 Mary's!!

I don't think the one above is my Hannah because on most census she was born in Kelfield Yorkshire.

K Choccy above found 1851 Eccles Mary head unmarried 31 1820 ag lab with daughter Anne 5 1846 Riccall which is next door to Kelfield.I thought maybe i had found my Mary,but it must be a different one.Do i disregard John as her father ? I am getting very confused
