Rosanna's household in 1851:

Samuel Lucas 38
Mary Lucas 33
George Lucas 13 - married 1861, Ludlow reg dist?
Rosona Lucas 11
Sampson Lucas 8 - no marriage or death to 1871 in Shropshire
William Lucas 2 - died 1871, Ludlow reg dist?

and in 1841:

Cornelus Methven 25
Ann Methven 30
Samuel Luces 25
Mary Luces 20
George Luces 3
Rosana Luces 1

So Rosanna didn't have a sister who could have been Elizabeth Lucas's mother, and it's hard to say about the brothers.

Hi Janey,
First must apologise for not having been more active of late. There have been a lot of problems with the broadband operators servers here in the north of Sweden and it's been impossible to couple up to the net.

I've been thinking in the same terms re: Ernest's and even May's birth certificates. What is thier father's name..? John or Thomas or something completely different. The only thing that I can't dismiss as a coincidence is that on both Albert's birth and marriage cert. father's occupation is given as Journeyman Tailor.
If anyone has access to birth certs. I'd be most greatful if they could look at Ernest Webb born Sept.quarter 1888 /District of Ludlow/ Vol 6a Page 545, and or May Webb born June quarter 1892 /District of Chorlton/Vol 8c Page 904.
Thanks to you all for helping me with this mystery,
Regards
Jean

Hello Jean, I'm afraid the only way to access the information on birth certificates is to buy them!

You can order online (they do overseas) from General Records Office (GRO) http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

You have the necessary references.

Good luck!
