Thanks Cherilyn,

I came to the same conclusions about Sonia (prob being Dorothy's with Stanley Hughes) but was just after some reassurance that I'm on the right lines.... ie - i don't always get the bloomin' obvious!

Thanks again,
Deb xx

Your best bet would be to contact the possible living decendants whose details I sent to you by PM

Good luck!

Cherilyn Report 13 Dec 2010 02:01

Hi Deb

Sorry can't check births that 'recent.'

But Albert's grandchildren are listed as Joyce, Leslie, Eileen & Sonia.

Joyce and Leslie were Scofields as seen above; the marriages I sent you confirm this. For Eileen, I think maybe Gladys E M Scofield b. 1927 was known by her 2nd name - there are very few births with this surname.

So it is *possible* that Sonia was Dorothy's with Stanley HUGHES.

Dorothy is unlikely to have had any chn with Lionel Eric THOMPSON, as she would have been about 54 when they married. (Note he was about 10-12yrs younger than she).

Also note Irene did not formally marry til 1961 but she is shown as his 'wife' in Albert's 1951 death notice :)

Thank you everyone. Could I be an absolute pain and ask if someone would check to see if Dorothy had any children?

Could have been as Dorothy Winifred Stanbridge, Hughes (Married 1930), or less likely as Thompson (married 1950).

Thanks, Deb

Interesting - the papers say Eric was aged 17 when he died in 1931, so this must be his birth (i.e. he was not born in 1904):

Gladys, Leonard & Augustus are all interred at Fremantle cemetery and can be found at mcb site already given. (Augustus also remarried; his 2nd wife, son Leslie and daughter-in-law Rhoda are also interred there.)

Dorothy's 2nd husband Lionel Eric THOMPSON died in 1958 aged only 50 - he is also at mcb site, at Karrakatta.

Dorothy remarried again, in 1963 to Reginald KEAST. It was his 2nd marriage; his first wife Gracie died in 1956.

Dorothy's death is also at mcb at Karrakatta. She died on 3rd Dec 1980 aged 84. Reginald is there too (died Dec 1969 aged 71).

There's a Stanbridge in Fremantle in the phone directory online white pages.

Perhaps someone may be able to look at the historic electoral roll for you. Give West Aussie people a bit more time to come online. It's still early over there, 5.20 am.

Hi,
I'm hoping there is someone out there with access to Australian records who may be able to help me.

I am trying to trace marriage(s) and death of Dorothy Winifred STANBRIDGE, born 1896 St Pancras.

She emigrated to Fremantle, Australia 3rd December 1920 with her whole family -
Father - Albert Ernest 1874 -1951
Mother - Florence nee Webb 1874 - 1955
Sister - Gladys Irene 1902
Brother - Eric Ivan 1904 - 1931

Father/ Mother and Brother are buried in Karramatta cemetery, Perth, W. Australia.

I would really like to find what happened to Dorothy after she emigrated, whether she married or had children.

Thanks
Deb
