If you mean the Family Records Centre, Islington Nicky, that closed down some time ago now.
Not really sure what you can do, can feel your frustration though :-((

Jax, Is it possible that I could find my family on the records at the family records centre? Is it worth a visit? not far from London but thinking if the census was simply not taken for their half of street they won't be recorded anywhere?
Kind regards
Nicky

There are quite a lot that did'nt want to be on the census at that time also, mainly women I believe something to do with the suffregettes. No yours is not the only one. I found my husbands grandmother on the image but not on the transcription...so how many of those are there? and if you use credits 30 credits just to look can get a bit expensive

I'm glad to know that after hours of searching I'm not going mad and my family are just not there. I will contact the national archives to see if they can help, it's not just the money wasted and the hours of searching.. how many other names and addresses have been missed off the census surely I cant be the only one.
Thanks everyone for your searching
Kind regards
Nicky

OK, it was just a though as they were multi-storey buildings and the street was later recorded as east or west Baltic Street, and yet later the first half seems to have disappeared.

I've looked at the enumerator's list and it appears that only 33, 33A, 34 & 35 were recorded.

If anyone on here has a sub for findmypast it would be worth doing the address search (33 Baltic Street, St Lukes onwards are there) looking at one of the records and getting the folio/reference number and page number, then try a search using the previous page number.

Just a thought, but someone on here posted how to get to previous pages on census records, but I just can't find the thread at the moment, sorry.

A very kind person has sent me the census returns for Baltic St and it is only half the street, the first half of the street is missing. I have sent nearly 40 pounds looking for a family that have been missed off the census... not happy at all.
What can I do??
Thanks for your help everyone
Kind regards Nicky

Nicola Report 11 Dec 2010 01:30

Could someone please help me find a whole family of BATTEN's in the 1911 census, I have spent a fortune in credits trying to find them.
In 1901 they lived at 25 Baltic St,EC1,Holborn,London and I know for sure that at least 3 of them were still living at the same address in 1914. Even an address search in the 1911 census does not exist. I have tried every name variation, place and year of birth for each of them with no result.Edward Frederick Batten, born 28 Feb 1900 was the youngest of 5,Henry B:1897,William B:1895,Jane B:1890 and Charles B:1887. Any ideas would be most welcome. Nicky
