Hello Kath,
I've just seen your message with mention of Korumburra. I belong to Korumburra Historical Society, and if we can help you to find some information we would be only to pleased to be able to help. Of course I can't say that we can find something, but if there is something in the way of burials, maybe bank accounts (old records that is), school enrolments, names of miners, etc. that would help, we could see if we can help.
Regards,
Janet.

Thanks for your work Tony. I suspect the confusion between Altham and Althem was in the emigration papers. The Althams came largely from Lancashire and they are a big extended family so I have lots of work to do. The father, William probably had several siblings and I think his wife Ruth was a 2nd marriage - the 1st being to Eleanor Bennett.

cheers
Kath

Hi Kath .....there's a burial for an 'Ellen Verdun' 14.5.1918 at 'Springfield Cemetery' Melbourne. It is the only 'Verdun' I found. Could it be your 'Annie'?
