I seek information re Willian Dawson who was married to Julia Ann Buck. Their son was Joseph Dawson who married Ada Moran in Tamworth, New South Wales in 1911.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you, Bronwyn Lane

Found a marriage for 4072/1928 for Thomas D Thompson and Julia A Dawson at Waratah.

Death 10877/1942 Julia Ann Thompson, Father's given name - Buck 78 years, Marrickville. This would place her birth c1863/64

Many thanks for advising me to obtain a Transcript of the Marriage of Dawson and Buck. I received the transcript this week and I am very happy.

But now what is confusing me is. it states that Julia Ann Buck married William Dawson in Tamworth on 19 Feb.1886 and this would be correct but it also states that Julia Ann Buck was born in Kenmore, NSW. She was 23 when she married but I cannot find her birth details at all in NSW BDM. Her parents names are Edward Buck and Johannah Burke. Are you able to throw any light on this at all. I really appreciate all the work you have done for me. Many Thanks, Bronie

Hi Bronnie,

I could remember something I had seen on Ancestry. I have found the following in Australian Index of Births 1788-1922:

Julia Ann Buck born 1863 - Gold, Victoria to Edward Buck and Johanna Bourke Reg. No. 21076. Gold could be short for a goldfields town, but only a few places in Victoria are listed that start with "Gold". Golden Point is listed near Ballarat, Castlemaine and Maryborough and there is also Golden Square. The timing fits and the parents are right.

Cheers.

Just quickly, I think your Kenmore is meant to read Kilmore, Victoria. There are more births for this couple, so I will get back to you.

Thank You MEgirl and Mel75, You have been most helpful. I will look into all the info. you have given me. Certainly strange that you seem to think that Kenmore should be Kilmore... but all the evidence seems to point that way. Thank you once again and I will keep in touch. Regards, Bronnie

Hi Bronnie, the only Kenmore I can find is a suburb of Brisbane. Mistranscriptions occur all the time, unless it was the name of a property in NSW.. The Kilmore area fits because of the birth of Edmund in 1862.
