Helen Report 8 Jan 2011 00:50

I am trying to trace a family comprising Caroline Ryan (nee O'Mahoney) or (Caroline Beane,) children Gertrude, May, Rose, & James (think their surname would be Ryan) who lived at both 6 Poulett Road, Manor Park, East Ham, London, and 39 Sibley Grove, Manor Park, East Ham, London, in either the 1911 Census, could be under the name Ryan or Beane; in the 1901 Census if there would be under the name Ryan. There was another daughter Eileen b.Sep 1911 under the name Beane, but this would be after the census was taken I believe, and I have found her birth, but am trying to trace the rest of this family.

Can anyone help please,
Thank you

Helen

Thank you so much for the above information; can you tell me who was living at 39 Sibley Grove, East Ham, in the 1911 census at all? and who was living at 6 Poulett Road, East Ham in the 1901 census.

I am doing this research on behalf of an elderly cousin, (I live in NZ) and just want to confirm all the information.

Thank you once again,

Hi everyone
I got a birthday card yesterday from my friend containing a slip of paper from her boyfriend (who I have met once 13 years ago) asking me if I can find anything about William Henry Brullau born in 1861 and Caroline Susannah Beane, so this morning I typed his name into Google and this thread is one of the hits I got. On the paper her boyfriend has written that William was a ship's carpenter who died at sea by going overboard between 1899 and 1903, possibly on an Australian passenger liner. He also says that Caroline committed bigamy by marrying Charles Ryan in 1917. So looking at the notes on here, Caroline Mahoney initially married William, and then he vanished at sea on an Australian liner, so she married James Beane in 1902. In 1911 they had a lodger called Charles Ryan who she then married in 1917.
William Brullau is not a common name, and in the same Google search results I found a death notice for a William Brullau in Adelaide, Southern Australia. It says he died on 28th December 1909 at the age of 41. I know that our William would have been 47 by then, but 41 could be a transcription error, or the person placing the notice may not have known his exact age. It seems like a coincidence that our William disappeared on an Australian liner and a man with his name died in Australia a few years later so I think this could possibly be him. Perhaps he went off to work one day and couldn’t face coming home! I haven’t been able to find any census for Southern Australia online. The link to the death notice is:
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/5214282?searchTerm=&searchLimits=l-publictag=Eliza+Legarey
I would welcome any thoughts on this and thank you for all the information so far in this thread.

Hello Jane and welcome to the boards.

Unfortunately, you have replied to a thread from earlier this year and it is possible that Helen is not checking for replies anymore.

You can try clicking on her name and sending your message that way. If she still has the same email address, she will be notified.

If you would like help with your research, then why not start a thread of your own and people will help you. Take a look at the first post on this board for further info. Regards. Cx.
