Just to clarify I received 21 Photocopies of the original wedding certificates within the parish Registers. Showing dates, church, names, 'condition', occupations, ages, residence, fathers names, witnesses all With the original writing and signatures (or marks). Obviously these are all after 1837. they cost me £1 per copy plus a £3.50 handling charge per 5 copies, and I received them back with a week.

The archive centre I used will not do this service for Births or deaths, but can help in other ways.

Not all archives provide this service and those that do charge differently.

If you telephone/contact the local archives, some will do you a photocopy of wedding certs for pennies, if you know names, dates and church.

I just received 21 copies of marriage certs for the the price of 4 from GRO.

If you ceck on UKBMD that will show you that some archives have listed the reigisters that will tell you the church and give you a reference for them.

But it all does depend on the local archive office. Another one I contacted charged £9 for a photocopy

You could check sites like BMDshare.

FreeREG is a growing database - you could volunteer to transcribe records on that site - kill two birds with one stone?

Depending on where in the country you are searching you may find some records online.

In England and Wales you have to buy the certificate unfortunately.

If you are wanting marriages from the 1800's then there are some London marriages on Ancestry or Findmypast where you can see the information but otherwise you have to pay.

Hi, can anyone please tell me if it is possible to obtain the info included in these certificates without having to buy the actual paper certificate. I cannot afford the £9.25 each as I need too many to complete my tree. Can the info be obtained cheaper any where?
