Hi Moody Blue,

Sorry for "disappearing" small family emergency to attend to.

The marriage is correct for Dorothy and John James May (his 1st wife) as for the Percival name, I have absolutely no idea.

Robert and Rebecca look as though they tie up with John James May as the father and wife Dorothy. Robert Armitage was Dorothy's father.

I do know that this family in particular do like to change their names which has made reseaching them cause a few headaches literally.

This is confusing!! I have found two births that match with the Percival boarders in 1911 but they are Armitage!!

But he would have been born abt 1888......6years before the birth of Robert on the 1911 census. Different Roberts?

Just double checked the dates and you are quiet right there is definately a possibility that Robert is Rebecca's (1877) son.

Hi Moody Blue,

I did think that and thought along the lines of Rebecca in the 1911 is single. (although this means nothing) and also
The 1891 Census places Dorothy aged 27 years and Married working as a domestic servant in the home of Joseph Percival a Widower working as a steam engine fitter and his children Edith aged 9 years who attends school and Robert May aged 3 years.

I think its best I put it on my shopping list of certs.

Could Robert be the son of the daughter Rebecca who was born 1877 according to the 1911 census?

I wonder why he is using his mother's maiden name, His 2 sisters appear in the 1891 census with the same set of Grandparents but with their fathers surname ?

I can't seem to find their mother Dorothy married name May b. 1863 Gateshead after the 1891 census. I have a marr cert. for her husband who later married in 1906 in N/cle but cant see a death either for her.
