I cannot find the birth certificate for Emily Cecelia Hunt born 13th October 1842. Parents are George and Maria Hunt. I can find the baptism on the 6th November 1842 at St Andrews Holborn which gives date of birth, but not the birth details. I believe that Maria's maiden name was Taylor but Emily's birth certificate will confirm whether or not this is the case.
I have all the census for the family(although Emily is not in the 1851 census so may have died in childhood) - Emily's sister (Eliza Ann Hunt) was my gt gt grandmother but Emily is the only one I can find born after 1837 so her birth certificate would possibly allow me to go further with my research. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like this could be her death:

HUNT Emily Cecilia West London 2 183

But no trace of a birth registration that I can see.

Thanks for the information

Hi Carole, her baptism actually says her father is Frederick George Hunt, occupation looks like "Type Founder".

Where were they in the 1851 census? It will give us our bearings to try and trace back over.

Is this a possible birth?

Hello CherryBlossom - the baptism record gives her actual birth date of 13 Oct 1842 - I'm stumped if I can find anything corresponding to that.

Flip

Flip Report 16 Feb 2011 20:47

Her birth may not have been registered, there were no penalties in 1842 and many births were not registered.

That's true Flip - many of my own family can't be found.

Hi
Her Father was George Frederick Hunt or sometimes referred to as just George Hunt and he was a typefounder. In the 1851 census they were living at 10 Peters Lane, St Sepulchure.
Cherryblossom - dont think this is the birth as the baptism says she was born on the 13th Oct 1842 - its actually written at the bottom.
MarieCeleste - just looked at the baptism again and the book says george frederick. The address is Cowcrofs Street (cowcross street) and this is where they were in the 1841 census.

You're right MarieCeleste - can't see anything in the September qtr of 1842 or the January qtr of 1843 that would be likely.

Flip - you're right her birth was probably not registered - its a shame as when I found her I thought I might be able to confirm mother's maiden name through this birth. There is another Hunt born 1840/ early 1841 in the 1841 census - baby not named - but cannot find christian name for this one. looks like this is a dead end and just hope I have right maiden name for mother from parish registers. It would have been nice to have it def confirmed through a birth cert. Thanks everyone for your help.

Could you post up the 1841 & 1851 census - there may be clues missed - some of the guys on here have methods I can't even comprehend, but they've helped me no end in the past.

Did you find a christening for the NK (male) aged 7 days in 1841? The census was taken on 6th June, so they can't have been too far out with the birth date when saying 7 days! Don't know if it will help, as he wasn't around on 1851 census - so may be worth checking out, so there may be a death registered.

Sorry I don't have an Ancestry sub otherwise would have checked for possible baptisms.
