Yet his death isnt registered in the NSW BDM. Would it be possible that he died interstate and was transported to the cemetary for burial? Surely, this person, whether he is my gg grandfather or not, couldnt have been buried without the death being registered?

The details as listed with Roodwood Cemetary Independent office -
Charles Hammond died 21 Sept 1883, aged 53 Engineer. Old Presbyterian Section 5, Row 19, Plot 909.

I have tried searching variations of Hammond in the BDM online index without success. Is this a normal occurrence?
