Injury to arm

Can anyone help please we was told that Lewis Carmal Clarkson had an arm injury when he worked as a brewers drayman.he was born in sheffield 1870 and lived on Bamforth street,while looking on family search under his name was a list of pensioners on a pension roll it said cert no 76.056 Clarkson Lewis amp.l.arm. monthly pay 24.00 does that mean he had his arm amputated?how can i find more info please help thanks janette. |

I would think that's certainly what it means. You have done really well to find this out! Is there anything on the census reports re. a disability? |

Have you located his death? Might at least narrow it down a bit. From what you say I am assuming there is no date of any kind on that pension record. |

Hi if he lost his arm it must have happened after 1914 and before 1939,on his daughters wedding certificate Emily clarkson and david gash who married 1914 he was a carter,on his sons birth certificate dennis david clarkson he was a brewery drayman. what is a carter?thanks Janette. |

Yes, it certainly could. To sort out any more details I suspect you might have to look at newspapers as there doesn't seem to be anything else left. |

Hi Ron thankyou for your message,my great grand father Lewis lived at 82 bamforth street for a while and that was opposite the Mission.he also lived at high house as well, so you might be right he might have worked for one of them,do you know how i go about finding information of names that worked at these breweries thanks Janette |
