Thank you for all that info. Very disappointed with the outcome as she and herhusband had no children and they are both deceased.

If she is dead then the adoption records - only available to her in her lifetime - "died" with her. In other words, no-one will ever have access to them. The only chance of finding out anything is if another family member in the know is willing to talk about it. Someone I know has her original birth certificate and her adoption birth certificate which is unusual. She was adopted in 1941. She never wanted to trace her natural mother and, in order to prevent her descendants tracing her roots, she will have to destroy her birth certificate before it is passed to someone after her death.
I've been asked to do her family tree but it's that of her adoptive mother.

The marriage cert will give her father's name but if she was adopted, that would be her adopted not biological father.

Re your original query re adoption records - only the adopted person can view these.

Found marriage certificate for Irene Firth in 1951 married Lawrence Boyes. Is there any way to find out who her parents were??

I think it depends on the date.

If before 1926 I don't think there are any official records.

I know that she was adopted into our family but could anyone tell me if there are adoption records that can be accessed/??
