I was just laughing at that description myself Potty!! I'm sure it should be errand boy, but of course he may have been an "errant" errand boy, LOL

Kath. x

Potty

Potty Report 25 Mar 2011 14:55

Yes, Kathleen, looks as if the" Errant" boy must be from a previous marriage! Love his occupation! Doesn't errant mean something like naughty! Must look it up!

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 25 Mar 2011 14:52

I wonder if William had been married before as the eldest child on the 1851 census was born quite a while before the marriage of William and Virtue.

Potty

Potty Report 25 Mar 2011 14:52

IGI record for the marriage gives William's father as John; Virtue's father as Thomas; marriage 6th Jan 1848, St Mary's church, Bristol.

Struggling to find them in 1851.

Edit: Well, done Kathleen!

KathleenBell Report 25 Mar 2011 14:51

Margaret, have you looked for them on any census? Any idea when the family moved from France?

Can you post all the details you have and perhaps we can get you started: names, dates and places of birth, information from marriage and birth certs, if you have any.
