Find Ancestors

I have hit a brickwall with my grandfather and greatgrandfather.

William Henry Watts b. 1870 in Poplar in East London. I can't find a record of his birth or baptism.

Also I am unable to find a record of his father's birth or baptism. William Adolphus Watts b. 1846 in Reading, Berkshire. He married twice and I need to know which wife was the mother of my grandfather. I think I have been researching the wrong line because I didn't know he had a previous wife. Hey ho! The difficulties of genealogy.

Is there anyone who is researching the same family or can anyone help me to find William Watts.

Thank you. Yes this is definitely his first marriage and the 1871 census (from Chris Ho) shows Mary Ann as the mother. Wonderful!!!!

I just have to get my head round the fact that William Watts senior thought he was born in Berkshire but it was Wiltshire. He definitely needed a few more geography lessons if this is the right William Adolphus Watts. It looks like the right one because I know his father was Edward.
