I think it is likely he married Mary, since by the time of the Julia marriage, he would have been 50, a bit late in life isnt it?

Interesting, there seems to be multiple James, this is gonna be tricky.

I am looking for the marriage record of James Steel. He was born in Stapleton, Cumberland in 1790, he is mentioned in the 1861 census, aged 71. His younger brother was Joseph Steel, born 1797.
