I think that I would buy a birth certificate first as that marriage seems just a wee bit too early given that Maria would only have been 16 and there doesn't seem to be any children for a few years.

If the person that has the McDonald / Dixon marriage on their tree doesn't have a birth certificate for one of the children it could all be guesswork. You may as well get a birth certificate then your tree will be accurate.

Actual image on the 1851 says born England, Place Unknown and his wife Maria was born in Nottingham.

Have read on someone elss e tree that she was Maria Dixon and was marreid J-M 1849 in Worksop, but I have no proof and this is what I'm trying to clarify.
